Recover - Restore - Repair

Restore, recover and repair- the 3 R’s. This is the fundamental approach that Markee Injury Rehab uses to get you back to functional movement and reduce your pain.

To restore functional movement back into the body we need to first identify the source of your pain or disfunctional problem. Often where you “feel” the symptom or pain is not the actual “source” of the problem. There are other influences in your body that drive you to compensate or move away from your pain. Your body will find the path of least resistance. That path of least resistance becomes your “new normal” and further problems can arise as a result of your compensation. Markee injury rehab tests your whole body globally to target what’s not functioning or what might be contributing to your injury or pain. Starting from where your body is most successful in movement and least painful and then thin slicing back to the injured or painful area without going through the painful area first.

Allowing proper recovery time between exercises will allow your body to dissipate lactic acid and over time your rest periods are adjusted to your relative success as you build and regain your strength and functionality. Proper sleep and hydration are part of your functional recovery as well. The body does a massive amount of healing while you are sleeping. Getting at least 7 hours of sleep is essential. 2 hours of the 7 hours should be deep sleep. Hydration is easily measured and as a rule about ½ of your body weight in ounces of water is a good starting point. More is needed for each hour of exercise you add. Your flexibility comes from your body's ability to hydrate. Your pain increases when you are dehydrated at the cellular and even at the bone level.

To repair your body from an injury takes time and patience. Markee Injury rehab uses functional soft tissue transformation (FSTT) to gently guide your tissues and assist in you in functional movement and manually hydrate your tissues with myofascial release techniques (MFR). This along with functional manual reaction (FMR) assisted movement will help you heal faster and regain functional movement. Degrees of motion and range of motion are measurable. You will be able to see and feel your body regain it’s functionality, mobility and stability through Markee injury rehab. Your journey to success starts with movement and not in stillness. Motion is lotion and movement begets more movement!

Injury Rehabilitation

Injury rehab
and FMR

Functional Manual Reaction- FMR is a Gray Institute technique Markee injury rehab is certified to use to enhance functional movement in the body. Your body is tested globally using 3D MAPS (3 dimensional movement analysis performance systems). We test your whole body movement mobility and stability globally. We then tweak your body with a logical sequence of movements and positions to enhance or beget improved movement. In other words movement begets movement and success begets more successes. Using gravity, ground reaction force, your body's own mass and momentum, we manually help you to move or react until you are able to move or react successfully without assistance. We hold the space or take up motion where and if needed to get you your desired functional results.

Injury rehab
and FSTT

Functional Soft Tissue Transformation- FSTT is a Gray Institute technique Markee injury rehab is certified to use to help assist in both injury prevention and injury rehabilitation. FSTT is soft tissue movement and connective tissue movement through a hands on sensory input. Active tension integrity testing and passive/active assisted tension integrity testing is used to sense pressure and connective tissue binding, density elasticity and viscosity. We are a continuum of soft tissue matter in fact humans are mostly fluid. Tissues form and evolve throughout life as a continuum. Jaap van der Wal, MD, PhD. Markee injury rehab works with you to get slide and glide between your muscle tissues and connective tissues helps to relieve connective tissue congestion and binding. This is achieved by compressing into the tissues (slow sustained pressure vs. sliding) and then working with each sublayer. Hydration is achieved and the behavior of your tissue changes. This is not massage. This is hooking into the tissue and very slowly gliding. It is hydrodynamics. If gliding doesn’t occur then gentle pressure is maintained until the tissue is exposed. Force or imposing is not how we do it.

Active Stretch
Restorative Movement

What is Active Stretch, Restorative Movement (ASRM)? Simply put, it is actively moving through your stretches to restore functional movement in your body. Using gravity, ground reaction force, your own body mass and momentum you beget additional motion and functional movement. You restore movement that otherwise, was restricted dysfunctional.
